Food Event: “Chefs Up Front” hosted FLIPANY

FLIPANY has set out to change the way we approach food and nutrition. One dish at a time.

Chefs Up Front

The 411

FLIPANY, which is shorthand for Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth, is hosting its third annual gastronomical supper experience, Chefs Up Front.

Chefs Up Front offers guests an opportunity to have acclaimed South Florida chefs make a customized five-course signature dinner for their own table (each table has 10 peeps).

Each course is prepared and presented table-side with wine pairings for the complete culinary dining experience.

The goal? To teach the masses that it is important to be mindful of what you eat and how you prepare it.

Why are they doing it?

Chef Michael Shikany of Shikany – I was asked by Colin Knight to be a chef at last year’s event. I did not know much about the organization when I said yes. After participating in last year’s event and learning about their initiative to teach children and young adults the value of nutrition, exercise and overall living a healthy life, how could I say no this year… It is something I feel strongly about as well. I wish I had more time to be more involved with FLIPANY.

Chef Diego Solano of Bulla GastrobarI am honored to be part of a great cause that promotes teaching the importance of healthy cooking, nutrition and smart grocery shopping. There are several meals that can be cooked on a budget and still include great ingredients with an excellent nutritional standard!   I’m happy to be part of this great event.
