Ain’t no running from this pig… only running to it.

The 411
Miami Spice is well under way and many of Miami’s best have been pulling out all the stops to prove that they have what it takes to blow your taste buds away.
Swine Southern Table & Bar, located at 2415 Ponce De Leon Blvd. in Coral Gables, is not one to be left out of all the fun.
What do they offer? All the goodness and deliciousness you have come to expect from them day-in and day-out.
So what happened when I was invited to come in and give it a go (shout out to my tia for being my partner-in-crime)?
My socks were knocked right off… and I was wearing sandals that day, so go figure.
What We Had
The Drink

Because water just wouldn’t do. Tia also jumped at the fact that Nate (our very sweet server) said this was the Mexican made Coca-Cola. She said it reminded her of the Dominican Republic (where the fam hails from, fyi).
The Appetizers
Prior to this, I had never had Fried Green Tomatoes, so I didn’t really have a point of reference, but I loved these! The creaminess of the [pimento cheese] on top of the tomatoes added a great texture and taste profile (man, that sounded snobby, but it’s true).
As for the burnt ends — I love them. Have had the burnt ends on the regular menu (not sure if the same) and I loved them. I mean, who doesn’t love the basurita (used as a term of endearment) that falls off of the meat after it’s cooked.
This assessment of the apps wouldn’t be complete without the mention of the cornbread purée. OH. DEAR. LORD. It’s made using batches of their homemade cornbread and puréed until it is made into creamy perfection. If they ever start packaging that and selling it, I’d be the first in line. Should state that I have a deep obsession for cornbread, so this is a bit biased.
The Entrée
I should start off by saying that I still do not know how to pronounce the name of the pasta, but that minor discretion aside — I loved it. It had a little tinge of sweetness and the brisket was perfect (then again, when isn’t brisket perfect).
The ribs. Oh, the ribs. Is it possible to get another batch made to-go?
The Dessert

Those of you who know me, know that chocolate is not an inclination of mine — in the very least. I am actually the kind of person that chocolate lovers and enthusiasts can leave their chocolate with because I won’t eat it. That being said, I know when to take one for the team.
I can adamantly say that I enjoyed it. Everything worked. Tia and I were hesitant about the layer of Coco Puffs at first, but they ended up being one of our favorite part of the dish. I will say that the bottom layer (the brownie layer) was a little too rich for me, but if you like dark, rich chocolate, it’s def the thing for you.

Final Thoughts
Swine has a special place in my heart (I mean, that cornbread, dude). If you haven’t been, you have the whole month of September to enjoy their Miami Spice menu.
Disclaimer: Although all these thoughts are my own, my meal was comped by the lovely folks at Swine Southern Table & Bar.
Happy Eats,
