So a couple of months back, my homie Nat (of GrownUPishh and In The Spirit of A Stiletto — she’s a bit of an overachiever if you ask me) and I, decided we wanted to go out to lunch. We, being the total girls that we are, knew not where we wanted to go, but we knew it was going to be in Coconut Grove.
We went to various places (looking at you Greenstreet), but found that the wait was too much for our hunger level, so we left our names and walked around. Luckily, we came across this little gem, tucked away on Commodore Plaza (a few store fronts down from Mr. Moe’s), known as George’s In The Grove.
Initial Impression: Not going to lie — from the outside it might not look like much and when you go in you might not make much sense of the décor, but when you read that there’s French influence incorporated into the restaurant and decor, you throw caution to the wind. Everything about this place screams charm; and if you can’t see it then I suggest you take that cucumber out of your butt. We were instantly greeted by a waitress who was prompt in telling us that we would be seated in 10 (which ended being like 5).
Things to Note: We happened to be there on a Sunday which only means two things: brunch and mimosas (which you are awarded one complimentary drink just for showing up). Although neither of us opted for the brunch menu (which looked very delicious), we both had burgers (we were hangry at this point).
What I Had:
Mimosas: Please note, I ONLY had one.

Bread Basket: I’m a sucker for bread and jelly. I also have a bad habit of judging places that don’t serve you bread — unless you have big portions.

The Frenchie Burger: Angus Beef Patty with melted Brie Cheese, smoked prosciutto, and lettuce. This normally comes with onions and tomatoes, but I said ‘no’ to those.

Final Verdict: Will definitely be going back again (don’t really know why I haven’t, yet). Also, if it’s your birthday and you happen to be there (AND tell them; they aren’t mind readers), they drop down a disco ball and play loud music as they bring you your dessert — which is TOTALLY badass. I’d also like to check out this spot at night. I would love to see all the funky things that go on over there; and more importantly, try out the dinner menu.
Wanna go? Let know me!
xoxo,
M
